(1) other note on these M1-A's. if yer gonna use the USGI bipod (heavy) ya dont have to worry about this.
if yer gonna go with a lightweight multi-spoon HARRIS BIPOD you need to add a stud at the front of f/glass stock ahead of sling mt. butt from typical rough handling in iraq/afghan, alot of these harris bipod studs pulled out of stocks due to getting hammered on in combat. sadlak came up with a "DUAL STUD" mount that takes care of this. basically you drill a second hole in f/glass stock and use a super gizzy gizz adhesive of the DEVCON genre to bed the (2) studs in along with its inletted backing plate. that way yer harris bipod doesnt pull out of forend.
harris bipod is silent on/off and weighs a hell of alot less than usgi bipod(most are chinese now). youll crap yerself at what REAL GENUINE USGI bipods go for now for these M1-A's.
mucho better mousetrap. and as anybody that has owned an M1-A or M-14.............the least amount of times you remove action from bedded stock THE BETTER! so while yer in der applies BIG TIME HERE! get "r" dunned the 1st time.
