Sounds like a bad fan to me. Both of my fans went out on my 84. The bearings just give out and they lock up which causes too much draw on the electrical. That's probably what blew the fuse. I blew several fuses and even a rely before I figured this out. You can get a new fan for $50 or so at a junkyard. If the one in there already is a 3 blade, I would get the 6 blade that comes on the later models. I think from 86 on they started using 6 blade fans. They move the air better and can cool a bit better. There is an article on Clark's Garage that talks about the fans and how they work and how to test them.
