Yesss a RB I !!! 
No need to cut in to the wiring harness, just plug between the right connectors

almost all the (BMW) guy's over here use a RB1, I only know one who's use a RB III on his R1200S and that's because he's got a aftermarket quickshifter installed ...
there were plenty of dyno ours needed to get it all right 
Don't know where (in your neighborhood) you can find a tuner ???
