Mines Road is a kick in the a$$

I am a big fan of Calaveras Road but it's not for the faint of heart (1 1/2 lane 2-way traffic, all blind corners, hill on one side, cliff on the other side). There's also the random bicyclists that must have a death wish that act like they own the road. Turkeys, stray dogs, fox, pigs, cows even in the Calaveras Mountings I have spotted Elk in the distance. The road winds around Calaveras Dam. Dumps you off after the Sunol Grade on one side and into unincorporated Milpitas/Lagunas on the other. No cell phone coverage; I've done it and seen it all on that road (even a guy helicoper lifted out).

I'm very close to Mt Diablo. Looks like it will be a nice-cool day to go up there. LOTS of bicyclists and not possible to speed on as it is monitored by hawks.
