I appreciate your comment. But I disagree for a few reasons. First, I believe that you say that it's a 914 wheel because there are washers in the drill holes, but the back surface of a 914 wheel is flat so the cancel ring cannot be mounted onto the wheel properly so that the cancel ring site flush against the back of the wheel hub - unless the hub is milled in order to fit the cancel ring. As you can see in the photos though, the cancel ring sits perfectly as it should for an RS steering wheel.
Secondly, the date stamp is from 1972. The 914/6 wheels were made for the 1970 model year. The production run of 914/6's had come and gone at least a year earlier before this wheel was produced in 1972. Production for the 1973 RS began in the end of 1972 so the date stamp would match perfectly for a real RS steering wheel.
