After reading a few of the posts I decided to test out a different gear oil. My 915 box was very stiff and difficult especially 1 and 2nd gears around town on cold engine (and box). Often it embarrassed me at red lights as I struggled to get into gear. So nothing to loose and on recommendation from a transmission shop I changed to Statoil PS45 75W-90 with 10% ATF . Now the car shifts much easier when cold. Don't think there is any significant change when warm but that was never the issue. I don't know how much difference the ATF makes but will stick to this blend.
EDIT; I since tested with the same gear oil but no ATF. Shifting much harder when cold. Considerable difference
