One big shifting trick...when approaching a stop, always gently slide the shifter into first gear - just before the car stops rolling - and leave it in first while stopped. Contrary to an old wives tale, this will not shorten the life of your throw out bearing. The TOB will, 98% of the time, out live the clutch, so no worries. Practice this technique, and add thousands of miles to the life of your first gear; and no more embarrassment at the traffic light!
