Same thing happened to me 25 years ago. Someone turned left from oncoming traffic and I hit him. I only had liability insurance (collision insurance would be double my rate).
Other driver was charged with improper turn.
My insurance company sat on their arse and did d@%k.
The other insurance company wouldn't do anything pending the traffic charge.
I paid for everything to repair my car. Total cost was $3000. That was 1984 money.
I lawyered up. 9 months later the other driver was convicted on the traffic charge.
The other company paid out 2 weeks later.
I told my insurance company where to go when my policy expired.

Was the other driver charged with anything?
If so nothing will happen until the case goes to traffic court.
You're co-worker should get a lawyer. Most likely she will be out of pocket until a decision is made.

Good Luck
