Several hundred Lansing-area residents gathered at Ferris Park on Saturday afternoon, dressed as zombies and bearing donations of non-perishable food items for the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
The hoard of zombies - some who spent several hours on their ghoulish make up and costumes - walked from Ferris Park to the Capitol.
The zombie mass posed for photos on the Capitol steps and staggered around the lawn until organizer Steven Ward, 29, of Lansing gave a short speech about the positive impact made by donating to the food bank and thanked the zombies for attending. He hopes to make the walk an annual event.
