I need to seal the mortar on the chimney on top of my house (BEFORE winter sets in).

Google found me a product called ChimneySaver. You just clean the mortar and brush it on. I think it is an elastomeric compound.

Their spiel looks good, but nobody around here carries it.


ThoroSeal waterproofing can be found around here, but the only decent hardware store in town doesn't know much about it (tho they have it in stock). It looks like something you'd use for tuckpointing, which I am trying to avoid.

Ideas?

This is in the PNW so extreme temps are not a huge issue, but moss is.
