You're not alone in location choice. I've been informed that quite few people hang them there; an have problems. Unfortunately, if you have a fire toasting away with the screen on, you have a good chance of over heating the unit.
Nader, they have a fugi there now at $7000 with 1024x1024 native resolution. It seems to be the "elbow of the curve" in price/performance.
