So many of you know of my current relationship with my girlfriend (~fiancée). It's been a crazy trip. I thought us being apart would mean this would die a slow death but we've only become closer since I moved to LA and she stayed in St. Louis.
As with all of my other threads, I'll post the old links in order for those who wish to catchup with the saga that is my relationship with C:

Some crazy times... just re-reading my last thread there just makes me realize how nuts everything has been in the last 4 months.
So ever since I found out I was moving to California, she had it planned that over her college break she would come visit me here for a week. She would fly out here, and we'd vacation together. Then later in the winter I would fly back to St. Louis and visit her.
One another note- she has wanted to study in the UK for quite some time now, part of an exchange program. She talked about it a lot, but I wasn't much sure that it would happen as the program is rather selective and she is very tightly scheduled with her studies. Well, it turns out she got selected. She's moving to the UK in January for a 5 month research program. As if you thought our relationship couldn't get any crazier.
So she had been saving some money for this trip- I've mentioned before how her family is rather well off, but she refuses to get help to pay for school or travel from her father. She works as a bartender on weekends to pay for her books & such.
So we were talking about her trip to California in october (which we'd been planning for 4 months now) and if she had her flights yet. She said she hadn't gotten the tickets yet. I could tell something wasn't quite right. This is when she tells me about how she got into the UK study program (which, again, she's been talking about doing for years- longer than we've been together)... and how with all these expenses coming up- along with her sister's wedding next year that was just announced - she can't afford to fly back for her sister's wedding from the UK and also afford to come out to Cali. She had known this for about a week I think but hadn't told me because she was trying to find a way to pay for the tickets without asking her dad for the money. She's a broke medical student. I was in similar shoes not too long ago.
Now, when I hear this, I'm on my computer, right? I'm typing. She's telling me about the UK trip and those logistics, and she's very upset about not being able to make this all work. I ask her "You wanted to fly out of STL to here on the 15th, right?"
"Yea.."
"And get back on the 20th?"
"Yea..."
"Can you leave STL at 8:30PM on Friday?"
"What?"
"I'm buying your tickets, right now."
... yep. I had a set of tickets for a round trip American flight within 45 seconds of realizing she wasn't going to make it out here.
She was pretty ecstatic. I told her it was no big deal. Took me 3 minutes to book a set of flights, and that's nothing compared to what I would to to spend the time with her. And money is no object.
After she had to go to get some sleep, I sat and thought to myself:
That was the most ballin thing I've done in a long time..
Plus, I promised you guys pictures of us together when she comes to visit. Promise is a promise.
Also- looks like I'm going to be heading to the UK next spring....
