Eric,
Did your Dr tell you that when you start Allopurinol, you'll very likely experience some pain as the uric arid is removed from your system and excreted? I had tingling and "twinges" for about 2 weeks right after starting Allopurinol and they have subsided. I'm 49 and I believe I've had gout for 4-5 years but didn't know what it was until it affected my toe (podagra). My 1st attack was in the shoulder... Good luck!
