I have one of Charles' IMS upgrades as part of the flat6 3.6 performance upgrade in MY 2001 986S. At 2000 miles and counting I could not be more pleased or impressed with the performance. I did the upgrade for added HP and torque, although the additional reliability I expect over time was certainly a part of my decision to the spend the money for the motor. For those who have a catastrophic failure, and considering the price of a rebuilt, the upgrade is almost a no brainer. I did it on a perfectly serviceable engine, but I really wanted more power, and didn't want to spend a lot of money on a SC kit, or a bigger M96 engine with the same inferior IMS design.

I have no problem paying for quality engineering and manufacturing and for one appreciate that Charles, as well as Jake Raby, have chosen to jump into the M96 business. There are a ton of great cars out there with declining values and a black cloud of suspicion hanging over them. A few years ago there were zero internal engine parts available and we were at the mercy of the factory replacement process. Things are looking up!!!
