My introduction to Jimi Hendrix: It was 1975 and I was 6yrs old... My dad owned some apartments next door to our house and one of the tenants was a black guy named "Herb"... I would always go and chat with Herb cuz he was pretty cool... one day I went over and he was barbecuing some chicken on the front porch listening to some jams... He asked me if I wanted to hang out and have some chicken and I told him sure... during the course of the afternoon I asked him what type of cigarettes he was smoking cuz they sure smelled funny compared to other cigarettes... he advised that they were his doctor cigarettes... I shrugged it off and we began talking about the music we were listening to... He told me that we were listening to Jimi Hendrix and that he was the greatest guitarist that ever lived.... I told him that there was no way he could be the greatest guitarist that ever lived because Ace Frehely was the greatest guitarist that ever lived... He took me inside his apartment and showed me a couple of life size Hendrix posters... I remember looking at them and thinking that the guy really has something going on.... it was a good day with Herb... we had a great chicken dinner and I learned about Jimi... Been years since I have seen Herb... would be cool to see him again.... I miss the 70's
