I like Hendrix. He could play and sing out of rhythm with what he was playing. Very cool stuff.

Hendrix and Syd Barrett had a burning hatred for each other. Hendrix toured England with Pink Floyd before either of them were big. Hendrix overdosed. Barrett went insane. A lot of "The Wall" is based on Barrett's antics when touring with Hendrix.

The song "Nobody Home" by Pink Floyd is about an incident in which Barrett crushed up a bunch of Quaaludes and sprinkled them into his hair before taking the stage...right after Hendrix. Barrett was high on about six different things and just stood there while the band played behind him...
