I think the valve covers alone cost $1k per side. Part it off. It may take you a while to sell all the bits and pieces, but since you only put $1k into it, you should make it back pretty fast.
Or...
Call up Irv Seaver BMW... I think they may have a right cylinder from an HP2Sport... they may either toss it away or send it back to BMW AG for analysis... one of the two.
