Yeah, the owners need to be kept in a closet for a couple of years.
I hate to see dogs left cooped up in a back yard all day. We used to live next to some people that had the sweetest miniature, long haired dachshunds, that they kept in the back yard. In my neighborhood now, there are some folks that keep a golden retriever and some tall, lanky short-haired black dog out in their back yard. The yard has a rut running the length of the fence beside the road. The dogs, both of them are super sweet. If you walk up to the fence, they'll stand up and just stand there while you pet them.
My pets, since I was 3 have always been indoor pets. 12lb dog, or 100lb dog, it didn't matter.
