That's the route I took!

The fact is, saying you drive a coupe for the improved chassis dynamics just lets guys play into the fantasy that most sports car owners cherish - that they're driving gods who can exploit every ounce of performance their car offers and can't be denied one iota lest their talents outstrip the car's and disaster ensue. Which is why so many middle-aged guys have written off Enzos, Carrera GTs, and Veyrons.

The chassis dynamics arguement rings hollow when your typical Boxster or Z4 roadster is twice as stiff as 30 year old 911s their detractors cherish. The roll-over arguments are equally flaccid in this day of airbags and roll-over bars, especially since roll-over accidents aren't exactly as common if you're not guest starring in an episode of "The Rockford Files." You could flip a 2003 Z4 roadster over and stack a 1989 Porsche 911 coupe on the understray and still not collapse the windshield pillars.

Clear away all the blather and really, it's just that some people prefer coupes to convertibles. Humans like to make a decision and then re-arrange the facts to suit it.
