1997 Convertible Top Broken---DIY Project?
Earlier in the summer the top broke on my Mom's boxster. Having worked at the local Porsche dealer for several years I had the guys in service take a look at the car. Turns out both convertible transmissions need replacing. Even buying all the necessary parts at cost I'm looking at $1,500 before labor.
Is this something a green mechanic should even try to tackle? If we're planning on selling the car is there any harm purchasing used transmisison on EBAY for $150/side?
