Spoke with Avery Brooks yesterday
I attended a performance of Beethovens 9th put on by the NJSO yesterday. Preceding each movement Avery Brooks read a famous speech concerning freedom or human rights. JFKs Berlin speech, Gandhis on passive resistance, Susan B Anthonys on suffrage and MLK Jrs I have a Dream. Dang fine program.
I went out towards my next destination and AB was just kinda hanging out. So I approached him and asked his opinion of the music and he graciously consented to a dialogue on the speeches he recited. Nice man, good conversation.
