As to what happened? I'm going with,"Life happened!"

Take care & hope to see you all again soon.

A special shout out to those of you who helped us out. "THANK YOU!"

Jeff,
remember this wasn't your fault. your were just the first to hit it the right way, so in a way you saved one of us behind you.

Well here goes, friday a small group of us met at the awahnee for lunch. Hwy 41 had 25 miles of construction, dirt and gravel.
on the way back Yuri's bike developed electrical problems,(we told him he should of brought his bmw), so we threw his luggage on my lap and stuck him on the back of richard's bmw and away we went on another mr. toads wild ride thru the construction.
the next day we start the usual ride and its a beautiful clear day. we get to the goat trail and i am running sweeper. when i get to the scene of the acident jeff is
in a ditch with holen and tuna with him.
looking at the marks on the ground was interesting to say the least.
the road is a short straight way about 50 yds long into a normal left hand banked curve. the road was clean with no liquids on it. about 15 ft. before the skid marks made by the slider and the foot peg their is a small shelf with a dip after it about 1ft in diameter. the shelf looked to be made by a tree root. the interesting thing is that the dip and shelf cann't be seen 10 ft way.
so here is what happened in my opinion: jeff comes out of the preveous corner at about 25-35mph. he is keeping a constant throttle because he has other riders behind him and is showing them proper lines thru the corners. jeff hits the the brakes at the proper time and the bike rolls over the shelf, front wheel gets light or gets air. when the wheel gets back to full weight it washes out and bam he is on the ground. He had no chance, it could happen to any true sports bike type with a short travel front forks.
