We never used the dry cycle on the old dishwasher and also have never seen the need for the food grinder (and don't pre-rinse anything). Having 2 young kids, we often do 2 loads a day, so the dry cycles are pretty much mandatory - otherwise we're putting away wet dishes. I'm also on septic, so grinding up the food before it goes into the tank, gives me a little more peace of mind.
