The point on the left is for pushing into something, but obviously not with force since it's curved. My guess is next to a wall or similar.
The finger grips on the right is for pulling it out. (Hook two fingers under.)
The slider with the arrow dosen't have any attachment for using vertical force, but it could be hammered sideways into something, which may/may not pass through the open center section.
The odd-shaped relief next to the handgrip is puzzling. Holder for a rod/bar?
Could it be a flag marker for railroad ties?
