Taking another small step towards the final goal. Constructed a new engine grill because I wasn't happy with the way the SC grill fit or looked on the tail. I found some grill material @ Home Depot for $10/grill(2 needed) as I couldn't find a single piece large enough to do the job.
Biggest problem is I didn't have a mig welder handy(don't ask). So I joined the 2 parts the hard way using a spot welder and a big hammer to flatten the welds while they were red hot.

After grill was cut to shape and trimmed with door edging to clean up the edges


Now I just have to devise a nice clean way to mount the grill and maintain the correct curvature
