That and living in the desert. I just did the I-10 west then I-40 east drive. I-10 was a complete ****hole drive the ENTIRE state that I would never wish on anybody.
However you are much closer to the mountains, California, and Vegas which are certainly positives. It's 8 hours in any direction from Houston just to see something rise beyond 1000 feet. Sucks.

The area of the state closed due to border violence is like saying your mansion sucks because of a yellow spot in the grass in the yard a few acres behind your house. Actually, it's even smaller than that.
I can't remember the last time I drove on I-40 or I-10. They are but tiny, insignificant slices of the state. The best parts of the state are hours from both roads. But please keep thinking AZ sucks. We have enough people here. And our open carry and no helmet laws scare outsiders.
