Unless something has changed... you post it for sale in a paper/want ad/gun board, meet seller, exchange firearm for cash/konk shells/pearls/whatever and go on your merry way.
I know the very thought of this causes some people to faint.
EDIT: This applies to TN only... every state is different. In PA I have to transfer a handgun through a FFL even if the buyer is also a resident of PA.
