Your two sentences are talking about 2 different things.

a pentagon is a 5 sided 2 dimensional shape



A cardboard box is actually a 6 sided shape. If the sides are all square, then it's a cube, or if the sides aren't square, then it's a rectangular solid. If it's a 3 dimensional shape with 4 sides, then it's a tetrahedron (3 sided pyramid add a side for the bottom) or if it's a 4 sided pyramid, then it'll have 5 sides and the only name that I know if is "4 sided pyramid". I'm sure there's probably something like pentahedron or something like that.
