I woke up this morning knowing I had a lot of scanning to do. As I was getting dressed I used my iPhone to VNC into the scanner computer to turn on the scanner lamp. That gets it warmed up and stable for scanning. It finished one job last night about 7:00 so I turned off the lamp then.
I started the scanner calibration as soon as I got here BEFORE I even made coffee!
It takes it 45 minutes per scan and each scan is over a gigabyte. I have over a 100 frames to scan with many different client jobs.
I could buy a REALLY slick late model GT3 for what our current scanner cost. The scanner we dream of would be almost $220,000 but it scans a frame of film in under 3 minutes. Just like cars, how fast can you afford to go?
