Stand and shift the front chainrings? Dang....
There was another electronic shifting system years ago, I think it was called ZAP. A couple of people had it when I rode cycle oregon - circa 1998 or 1999.
Not a single one of them could get their bikes to shift after sitting outside in the cold all night. Batteries wussed out, they also acted up in the wet.
Let's home Shimano has resolved all these issues. I suspect they have, their stuff is pretty darn bomb-proof. Love the self-trimming front. I don't cross up, but my frames are small, so I get some pretty good angle in the chain and I fiddle to get that right. This would do it by itself.
