The answer to my riddle was a small two wire plug on the left side just under the CDI unit that connected with a plug on the engine. I had thought it was for my Heater fan (it has the same type of plug) and so I didn't connect it. A friend said connect it and let's see if it starts, and that was it, started immediately.
