Wow...I was wrong! Wouldn't be the first time...

I agree...that crayon number is too good to be forged by the same hacker who sloppily forged the windsheild number and VIN plate. Likely scenario: Car was stolen, VINs removed by thieves, production number ground off, car was recovered, owner did what they could to replace the missing VINs.

Fascinating mystery...please keep us informed on what you find out. Don't let this lessen your enjoyment of the car...it's just a friggin number!
