I have the vin plate in the trunk, and the plate that is riveted on the side in the trunk (but not one riveted to the a-pillar).
Then I have what I believe is the build number on the top of the dash and on both doors at the top towards the rear. There is also a number stamped into the metal behind the knee pad.
I can not remember one by the shift coupler, but I was not looking for vin and build numbers when I did the interior on my car...

Euro spec cars have different plate locations to US and Japan cars, screen VIN plates were not introduced until late 1989-1990(euro spec)
