That "feel" never bothered me. On the contrary, I liked it. I liked how communicative the steering felt, though that never detracted from the actual handling of the car. It's like the car would tell me exactly what each contact patch was doing, just for information's sake.
Of course, I had a set of Nittos about 10 years ago (that I ran on my Nissan) that were terrible. That was the fault of the tread pattern. They wandered over rain grooves on the highway to the point even passengers would comment. It wasn't the fault of the alignment. It doesn't sound like that's what you're complaining about, Dave.
FWIW I haven't noticed much difference in steering feel or effort between the stock 205/245 pairing and the 235/275 tires I have on, now.
