I think you'll have a better chance of selling the complete car for $12k than the roller for for $8k, as long as the motor is reasonably strong and isn't in need of an imminent rebuild, the car isn't too rough and the title is clear. If you look around, $12k for a 1988 coupe probably puts you at the low end of the price range, so I suspect you'll have a fair amount of interest.
