Tobra, it actually is more complicated than you might think if you have not studied the game. Each scenario in the field presents a lot of different possible choices and an infielder must know them all in advance and be able to react in a split second to any one of them. A friend once gave me a coaching manual from Old Miss to help me when I was playing second base in an amateur league in the SF area years ago. The book was phone book size and about 2" thick.
I'm not saying it's on the level of chess but more complicated than the casual observer might think. Yes, when kids play it's throw/hit/catch. Its all fun for me but MLB is the least fun for all the reasons stated.
