Yeah, it's really too bad about Marlin. One of the last American gun companies largely machining from bar stock rather than going whole-hog into the investment casting route. We'll have to see what the future holds for them.
I've always preferred the strength and simplicity of Marlin lever guns over the Winchesters. Funny, my favorite bolt gun will always be the Model 70, but I just can't warm up to their lever guns.
Oh well, I have a Marlin for every purpose, and there are tens of millions of them out there. I don't see any trouble finding good ones at reasonable prices in the future. I'm sure there will be an initial panic rush on them, like there was on the Models 70 and '94, but once that subsides we should be fine.
