It might seem counter-intuitive, but wood ladders have better heat resistance than aluminum or fiberglass. Wood can withstand a significant amount of heat and burn/fail slowly. Only the outer surface burns (where oxygen is available). Alum/fiberglass ladders get hot, bend and buckle without any warning whatsoever.
