Walking out to the high school parking lot after one of my daughters volleyball games - 9:30PM.
Two seniors stop, and tell me "You Porsche is seriously cool, Mr Kelly." I ask 'em if they'd like to take a closer look.
30 minutes later they have their first real education on sports cars, weight distribution, power to weight, etc.
They quickly realised that the cr*p they've been fed by the ricer brigades was just that. They were stunned that we run our cars at the Glen, Laguna Seca, and other major tracks.
Got really interested. I've promised 'em a drive once they can show me that they know how to handle a stick shift. They will
Its kinda strange. My 13yo boy has had his head in the rice bowl for a year or so, but recently saw one of the local 944 race tuners cars on the street [Dr John's car], and from that day has had his heart set on a 944 for his first car.
There IS hope for this generation. We just need to lead 'em to the light.
