You might get some better technical replies on the rennlist forums, than just my replies here!
I had some intermittent starting problems and it turned out to be some dodgy solder joints on my DME unit. I just pulled out the unit, dropped it off with an old TV repair guy, he checked it over for $30 and all is good.
There are probably plenty of other potential causes ... probably better off searching here and rennlist.
