For me I had to have it once it came out as I would be in some wacko place like Lagos or Moscow and want to watch Formula One. Ever tried to find a specific channel at a place like that? Nope, not going to happen so Slingbox came into my life.
Find a friend or family member, pay for the cable for that box and internet it to where you are working. Put the box in a spare bedroom or the like where no-one is going to be changing channels or the like. My old copilot did this and now records stuff on his laptop while sleeping then time shifts it to watch whenever he is awake.
