For the record, starting (or worse, trying but failing to start) an IV for a markedly dehydrated pediatric patient sucks on a lot of levels. Because of this, when the barf-o-ramas start at my house, I start pushing fluids and sleep on my kids early.
Significant fever, along with (or caused by) dehydration can lead to real trouble (siezures...) fairly quickly.
