Just to clarify, my Dad didn't actually make it, he commissioned a fellow Shriner who does that as a "hobby" to do it. I got to spend a half day with the gentleman who did it watching the final bit of work that went into it, which was very informative, never mind a ton of fun.
And thanks... I'm quite happy with the balance it has between utility and ornateness.
By the way, the knife maker's name is Joe Arnold, of London, Ontario, and he does do some really nice work.
