Ian, first of all, let me say that I bow to the level of expertise and professional "ear" that I'm sure you have, being the sound guy here... I'm sure I have no idea what you can hear that I can't even begin to distinguish.

I think that Fab Faux video is much, much better than well done and would never refer to it as "a pale version of the original." I would reserve that kind of branding for a standard/casual effort by a half-decent bar band. These guys are vastly beyond that. In my opinion.

What am I missing? I think they got a huge majority of the timing, changes, voice intonations, tone, etc. spot on. Or 95-98% of the way there. While completely capturing the soul of the original.

Is your standard that it must be indistinguishable from the original studio master?

You used the phrase "the real thing" in your post re: the Marley vid. If you are one of those who believe tribute bands are a blight on the face of the music horizon, I understand some people can be passionate about that. Just curious.

I will see your Marley and raise you a Big Mama Thornton.
