The twin coils are right there in the left side of the engine bay. Right below them on the same bracket, are the two ignitors. They look like tiny black boxes that have multi-plugs going into them and two wires each coming out that connect to their respective coils.
Unless, that is, the '89 C4 is a special bird. I know the '89 C4 has many things that are different from the '90-'94 C2/C4 line, so maybe this is one of them.
