Don't forget Naples, just the other side and a nice change - upscale. My wife and I do this in the summer when the rates drop. Its only an hour and a half drive from our home in Boca Raton. Its relaxed with more midwestern visitors vs NJ and NY snowbirds. A night at the The Rod and Gun Club Hotel in Everglades City is another idea but it is really in the middle of no where.
