I'm a big fan of Marlin lever guns. I've owned an example of pretty much every model over the years. The current inventory includes a '50's vintage 39A Mountie, a mid '90's vintage 1994 Cowboy in .45 Colt, and a late '80's vintage 1895 in .45-70. All wear XS Sight Systems "ghost ring" aperture sights.

I've owned a number of Winchesters as well. 1873's, 1892's, 1894's, and an 1886 (the only one I actually miss). I'm not a big fan of the Winchester lever guns, although their Model 70 is my all-time favorite bolt gun. Make no mistake, their lever guns are all quality guns that will last several lifetimes (my '73 and '94 actually had, come to think of it), I just prefer the Marlin. You really can't fo wrong with either, though.
