REHOBOTH BEACH -- A Rehoboth Beach woman and her boyfriend were each arrested for driving under the influence with their children in their vehicles.
Delaware State Police were called to Atlantic Liquors in Rehoboth Beach at about 9 p.m. Nov. 10 after employees at the store refused to sell alcohol to Patrice J. Ward, 46, of Rehoboth Beach. Troopers performed a sobriety test on the woman and subsequently arrested her for DUI. They also discovered she had driven to the store with her 4-year-old child in the vehicle.
Troopers contacted Ward's boyfriend, Martin Alvarez, 40, of Lewes, for him to pick her up, but when he arrived at the store it was discovered he was also drunk. He had also driven to the scene with two children in the car, police said.
Each was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, driving without a valid license, and related charges.
