Yeah, I can't believe it took me so long to find these, either.

The similarities in our respective approaches just amazes me. Not only is he shooting mostly the same guns I shoot, but he has also fitted most of his lever guns with the XS Sight Systems "ghost ring" sights. I've sung their praises here before - I don't think there is a better sight for these guns.

I love watching him shoot black powder in the '73. While .45 Colt is not a "historically correct" caliber for that gun, the modern replicas in that caliber have it all over the .44-40's and .38-40's. Both of those are bottlenecked so they cannot be reloaded with carbide dies, and both have notoriously thin cases that like to buckle when flaring or crimping. The .45 Colt has none of those problems.

Notice his use of the short little M29 Smith. I'm right with him on this one as well - there is simply no need for the long barrels found on a lot of revolvers. They just get in the way. All but two of my single actions wear 4 1/2" or 4 5/8" barrels, and I've never felt handicapped by their short length and decreased sight radius. They sure are a lot handier to have around, though.

Yup, all in all, a man after my own heart. He's having a lot of fun with his "obsolete" guns, and showing just what they are capable of in practiced hands.
