on the premise that they just want money, what is the easiest way for them to make a net gain off of you?

if rational, and the premise correct, they will do that

I suspect they will bargain it down to avoid a ct. showdown as it costs them $$ to run you thru ct. (even if the ct. is full of marsupials that hop).

In my fair city, I got RR'd on a double ticket whamy a few months ago - rather than fight their BS, I just paid them a reduced fine (they told me about it themselves!). I did not do my legal research first, tho and they restricted me from driving after midnight (except for my job as a secret agent, etc.) for a month. I'm sure I'm in all the cop computers now too. So, watch out for that, everyone.

You are unlikely to have that problem as it was out of state Rick - but maybe they report to your home state? At any rate, you are most likely not getting out of it... the amt. of justice you get declines rapidly with the level of the court, and traffic is a total bottom feeder environment.

I suggest seeing if you can negotiate yourself - free but your own time is wasted.

Nest step, is to see how much an atty. will cost you. My bet is that > 2 hrs. of his time will be a net $$ loss to you.

Of course, you could always sic P-O-P on them.

We need to think of these things as what they really are: user fees in lieu of toll roads or higher taxes...
